Ramatlabama Miga and the Border

Ramatlabama is a village 25 kilometers North of Mafikeng, in the North West Province ( Bokone Bophirima) of South Africa. It is located on the Border with Botswana and Serves as a Border post for Road ,Rail and Traffic




Many cyclist from and around Mafikeng like to ride to the border Gate, Then we join them sometimes as it is fun riding in a group and being more visible on the Road, the road from the Border to Mafikeng is very smooth and it has no uphill's, I would recommend it to the beginners to get used to it then go to challenging roads

we like to ride to Botswana one day but most of us have no passport and we are working on that, because we like also to explore


The founder of Ramatlabama Miga Cycling club is Selelo Jan Sirungwa ,he started the Club at the year 2017, and he started alone and cycled for few months until he Meet Tumi Molokele one day, Then he bought a new mountain bike and joined the club


He cycled for almost 2 years and the bike broken down and he took the break on the road because the bike was not in a good condition anymore and did not have enough money to make it roadworthy, after that then other  people form Miga Joined named Adam Lekgetho and Orapeleng Mokolopi,Tente Toute, Samkelo Sibanyoni and other few members, but other that i did not mentioned their journey was very short with the Team, other people like to join but the problem is that they do not have bikes

we had so many rides and meet other cyclist along the road, then we met 2 clubs. Moshawane clycling club and Great mafikeng cyclist then decided to train together. we met mostly on Friday, saturday or Sundays, depending on our schedules

After discovering this Team of Moshawane, we trained with them every Sunday afternoon, as their club is mostly kids under the age from 6 to 15 years so we helped them with escorting during trainings and events

Then at Great Mafikeng we trained some times on Saturdays Morning at Mmabatho stadium parking , then we go around the town or we go to a planned route, experiences riders normally take long ride as far as Lichtenburg, Zeerust, Makgobistad, disaneng , Rooigrond ,Ottoshop and other places where the road is smooth that we can use road bike 

Some road that are not smooth requires a mountain bike, but mountain bike are used to ride in places that have no paved roads as dirt tracks, over obstacles such as logs and rocks because of their shocks and large knobby tires and their heavier, Road bikes are ridden only in paved roads

These kids are also from Miga and they love cycling very much. its one of the kids that are committed to training and they have participated in mafikeng cycling events and Race and they want to do and achieve more

  One of Ramatlabama Miga Cycling club Coaches Participated in the Buffelstrap Road cycle classic Race that was held on 30 July 2022 out side Rustenburg. he Partnered with Great Mafikeng Cyclists and formed a team of 9 Members that will represent Great Mafikeng Cyclist Team.Moshawane (kids) Cycling Club was also there to parcitipate in fun ride race with other Children The Great Mafikeng Cyclist Management where present on the day and they are the one who organized Transport,Accomodation and registration for the Race .They organized a special trailer that holds 10 bikes,some of the kids parents went with us there for supports as  usual. But as an individual there was a certain amount that we paid for everything since well Great Mafikeng has no Money at the Moment, as it is a Nonprofit Company, No income and no sponsor's for the Race but we wish that they get a sponsor so that they can help Parents and kids for Cycling trips, at least if they can pay full amount for participant...

ANNUAL EVENT

  As Miga sports and social club we have Annual event either on September or October every year, So our first annual event was held at September 2020 with Moshawane Cycling Club and Mafikeng aerobics Teams, our second event was on October 2021 and it was bigger than the 1 st one as we where joined with Moshawane and Great Mafikeng Cyclist, we had escorts cars from Traffic department which where organized by Moshawane Coach, he knew that we going to need escort especially when you ride with kids, all the precaution and safety measures is need at all times   Our 3 rd event will be on the 22 nd October 2022 and we are wishing and hoping that it will be better as we need to improve every year, we need to engage more kids in Ramatlabama Miga to come join Cycling and Aerobics, either its for fun,health and whatever reason.
